Launching a new product or brand usually means registering domains across multiple countries. But how much will that cost over the next 5 or 10 years? The Domain Name Forecaster gives you the answer in seconds.
The Tool at a Glance
The Domain Name Forecaster estimates the cost of registering and maintaining domain names across multiple countries. You select your domains, set your time horizon, and the tool calculates first-year registration costs and total cumulative costs automatically.
Creating a Forecast
From your Homepage, under Create a New Forecast, click Trademarks and then select Domain Forecaster. Click Add Domain Forecast and give it a name.
From there, configure your settings. Set your Time Horizon to the number of years you want to forecast, such as 5 or 10 years. Choose your Currency (US Dollar is the default). If you’re working through an agent or law firm, you can add their markup using the Agent / Law Firm Markup field and set a Markup Rate. Leave these blank if not applicable.
The Escalation Override lets you adjust the annual fee increase rate if you want something different from the default per-TLD rates. ICANN Fees are included by default, and you can toggle WHOIS Privacy on if you want those fees in your estimate.
Next, select your TLDs. They’re organized into three columns: ccTLD for country codes like .br, .de, and .jp; ccTLD Marketed as gTLD for extensions like .ai, .co, and .io; and gTLD for generic domains like .com, .net, and .org. Each one shows its annual cost. Check the ones you need, and enter the quantity.
Once you’ve made your selections, click Generate Forecast.
Understanding the Results
The results screen shows four key numbers at the top: Year 1 registration cost, cumulative cost over your horizon, TLDs selected, and forecast horizon. Below that, charts show your annual domain costs and a breakdown by TLD. A detailed table lists each selected domain with its type, quantity, registration cost, renewal cost, and escalation rate.
You can adjust your settings on the right side and click Update Forecast to recalculate without starting over.
