MYANMAR TRADEMARK LAW ARRIVING SOON

Myanmar’s trademark law comes into force in March (no specific date given), and their PTO will open on April 26, 2023.

Fees are expected to be published soon, and registrations and acceptance of payments are expected to begin once the law comes into effect.

Owners of marks filed under the previous law will be able to refile them until the end of the soft opening period (when the PTO opens). What could possibly go wrong?

FEE UPDATES

Argentina Fees – Yikes!:

  • Fee Increases – Argentina hasn’t increased its fees since 2019, so they spun the increase wheel and selected a very reasonable 220 percent increase over the prior fees. To make it easier for everyone, they have broken it into two parts. A 110 percent increase on January 1, and then a 110% increase on March 1.
  • Class Limits: Starting in January, if more than 20 products are services are filed with an application, there is a new fee of 25 ARS per product or service.
