REDUCED SMALL AND MICRO ENTITY FEES IN US

On December 29th, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 and the Unleashing American Innovators Act of 2022 was signed, bringing a late Christmas present to small inventors.

The law increased small entity discounts from 50 percent to 60 percent and micro entity discounts from 75 percent to 80 percent.

WIPO ONLINE PAYMENT

The WIPO Pay platform now offers an additional online payment method for the payment of filing fees in Swiss francs (CHF) to the International Bureau as receiving Office (RO/IB):

The new Bank payment online (secured by SOFORT) system is encouraged by WIPO and can be used by applicants who have accounts with participating European banks.

FEE UPDATES

Madrid Protocol Fees – Effective January 6:

  • Morocco Applications: 219 Swiss francs for one class of goods or services and 44 Swiss francs for each additional class, when designating Morocco in an international application or subsequently.

  • Morocco Registrations: The same amounts will apply when renewing an international registration in which Morocco has been designated.
