A Quiet Summer For IP Fee Updates

There has been quite a bit of treaty-related activity over the last couple of weeks, but it has been fairly quiet on the IP fee update front, other than a minor inflation adjustment for Japan. More time for the pool!

Treaty Updates

  • The Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement will enter into force, with respect to Montenegro, on October 10, 2024.

  • The Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement will enter into force, with respect to the Slovak Republic, on October 9, 2024.

  • The Hague Agreement takes effect with respect to Saint Kitts and Navis, effective October 8th.

  • Romania joins the Unitary Patent system on September 1.

IP Fee Updates Effective Sept 1:

  • Annex D – International Searching Authority

    • Search fee (PCT Rule 16):

      • International Applications filed or translated into Japanese:

        • Will decrease from 907 EUR to 841 EUR (when paid in Euros)

      • International Applications filed in English:

        • Will decrease from 1,072 EUR to 994 EUR (when paid in Euros)

        • Will decrease from 1,549 SGD to 1,454 SGD (when paid in Singapore Dollars)
