IP Forecaster allows you create dynamic one-time fees on the fly to be used immediately in both patent and trademark forecasts. This enables you to create one or more ad-hoc fees as needed to be applied to your current estimate.
Let’s create a new US patent forecast and add a dynamic fee for amending the application. Note: The process for creating dynamic fees is the same for both patent and trademark forecasts.
- On your homepage, click on the Patent button in the Create New Forecast section at the top.
- Select United States as your starting point.
- Application Details is the default tab. Enter your total claims, independent claims and pages for your application.
- Click on the Dynamic Fees tab.
- The first line is loaded automatically for you to fill in, additional lines are added by clicking the blue Add button. You may also use the red X to delete a fee line if needed.
- To select a Task from the list, click on the dropdown and use type-ahead in the search box to narrow the list. Let’s select the Amend Application task by clicking on it.
- Phase selection is the phase you would like the fee to show up under on the results. In this example, select the Application phase.
- Country selection also allows type-ahead to narrow the list. Select United States as that is our country where you want the fee to apply.
- Enter an amount for the fee. In this case, $200.
- Now click on the Create Forecast button at the bottom to generate your forecast.
- In the Forecast Results screen, use the arrow buttons to expand United States to reveal the phases.
- Use the arrows beside each phase to expand the costs for that phase. In this example, expand the application phase.
- You will see your ad-hoc dynamic fee of Amend Application now displayed and calculated into your forecast results.
- As always, you may click on the edit button to return to the forecast request screen if any changes are needed. You may also export and/or email the forecast results as desired. Exports will also display any dynamic fees you have added.
